Turning 9 on the 9th

Ah yes, the Golden Birthday - Turning 9 on the 9th - was quite the celebration. Since the girls are getting bigger, I suggested that instead of a party, maybe simply taking a friend with them to do something special might be a better option. Lauren liked this idea and took her friend Madeline and we went out on the town. :) First stop was Red Robin for lunch where they shared Lauren's sundae. Then we headed to the Rollarena for some rollerskating. Skating will take you back!
After a couple of hours they were tired, but got a little pick-me-up at the Baskin Robbins across the street.

Then, it was birthday morning...Ali had to wake Lauren up which was a first!! Lauren had her hopes set on a DS, (portable video game player), but I was hoping to surprise her with an ipod and that she'd be happy with it. Big smiles! And, bonus, she finds that she can play a few games on it! Win, win. :)

That night we had family for dinner out...and my attempt at a tye-dye peace sign cake. I was a little tired by this point, so not my best effort, but Lauren thought it was beautiful anyhow. :)
Happy Birthday Lauren! Next year, double digits! :)
